FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
June 25, 2019
West Kelowna residents who received a 2019 Citizen Survey in the mail are encouraged to return their completed forms to City Hall by this Friday, June 28 at 4 p.m. to ensure their voices are heard.
Residents who started the online version of the survey, but did not complete it, also have until this Friday at 4 p.m. to finish the questionnaire.
The City of West Kelowna mailed 1,000 surveys to randomly selected taxpayers in early June. The goal is to receive as many surveys as possible in order to provide scientifically accurate results to Council. Findings assist the City in setting budget priorities for the coming year. Results indicate how residents feel about the level and quality of programs and services they currently receive and determine if West Kelowna should provide more, equal or less service in specified areas.
Municipal funds are limited, so a tool that identifies taxpayers’ priorities is extremely helpful to Council as it aims to keep taxes low and build reserves for future needs. Staff also compares results from this year’s survey against previous findings to see what trends are forming.
Residents who did not receive a survey through the mail can complete the online version at surveymonkey.com/r/citizensurvey2019.
The City will only use those surveys randomly mailed to tabulate the scientific portion of the survey, but Council will receive a full, separate report of the online results as well.
