Be Bear Aware

Fall 2019

Let's keep wildlife wild! We can all protect bears and keep our community safe by securing garbage on non-collection days and kindly asking neighbours to do the same, putting out waste bins only on the morning of collection, keeping garbage cans clean, keeping barbecues washed and covered, picking ripe and fallen fruit, mixing appropriate food waste well into your compost, and putting away and cleaning up all bird seed and pet food. Please see the WildSafeBC website for more helpful tips.

Safe Drinking Water Project

Fall 2019 to Spring 2022

Here we go! Work began on Rose Valley Water Treatment Plant, with works to prepare the site, in September 2019. The plant will be commissioned in spring 2022. Thank you to Canada and British Columbia for providing $41 million, covering the majority costs of this essential project, which will initially provide safe drinking water to 11,000 residents in the Lakeview System, and 6,500 in the Pritchard/Sunnyside and West Kelowna Estates Systems in future phases.
