If you believe your property was damaged as a result of work done by the City of West Kelowna, you may submit a claim. See How to Make a Claim.
You have two calendar months from the date of the incident, or from when you first became aware of the matter, to submit a Notice of Claim in writing.
The City's receipt of your claim does not constitute any acceptance of liability and neither does it guarantee coverage nor compensation. See How the Process Works.
Contact your insurance company first. If your policy covers the type of damage incurred, this may be the quickest way to have repairs done and cover costs. Your insurance company will then seek compensation from the party they believe to be responsible for any damages.

How the Process Works |
After you submit your claim, we will provide you with written acknowledgement of your submission. The outcome of the claim will be determined via a thorough investigation, which our insurers will conduct without prejudice, based on the facts provided. Their investigation may take several weeks, dependent upon the nature of the claim. Once the information has been gathered and reviewed, a decision will be made and the City's insurer will advise you of the outcome as soon thereafter as possible. Should the City be found responsible for any damages, paid invoices must be submitted as the basis for payment. Settlements are paid on fair and reasonable standards established within the insurance industry and legal practice. Regardless of the outcome, the City's insurer will provide you, as the claimant, with the reasons for the decision. You can expect City staff and our insurer to treat you in a professional and courteous manner. We acknowledge that the claim process can be stressful, however we ask that all your correspondence and conversations with us remain respectful. |
