Local Governments in the interior Okanagan taking coordinated approach to phased reopening

May 13, 2020Following the recent unveiling of the BC’s Restart Plan outlining the phased reopening strategy for British Columbia, municipalities and districts across the interior Okanagan have been working closely to determine how it applies to local and regional programs, services and indoor and outdoor recreation facilities.

Detours around Glenrosa-McIver Intersection start May 14

The first set of detours needed for the Glenrosa-McIver Road improvement project are set to start May 14.
Crews will close Glenrosa and McIver Roads for several months to allow for the planned realignment of the intersection. The temporary detours are part of the traffic management plan for the first stage of construction. Key features of the upcoming closure and detours include:

Water Quality Advisory Issued for West Kelowna Estates System

The City of West Kelowna, in consultation with Interior Health Authority, is issuing a Water Quality Advisory for the West Kelowna Estates System, effective immediately and until further notice, due to high turbidity. The cause of the higher than normal turbidity is sediment from spring freshet that is flowing into Okanagan Lake from creeks upstream of the water system’s intake.

Glenrosa detour information to come next week

Glenrosa Road near the McIver intersection will temporarily close starting May 14 to allow for planned road improvements.
Information about detours and impacts for transit, pedestrians, local traffic, emergency access and timing will be posted to the City’s website, sent to our subscribers and posted on social media channels early next week.
