West Kelowna will re-open its skateboard park, pickleball and tennis courts on May 16 in response to the phased strategy unveiled in the Province’s Restart Plan as part of the COVID-19 recovery.
“It’s exciting to enter this new phase and in time for the long weekend,” says Mayor Gord Milsom. “I strongly encourage you to get out and take advantage of the amenities that are open while following the existing social distancing protocols that have become our new normal.”

Expect Delays on Old Okanagan Highway For Gas Main Upgrade

Motorists can expect delays along Old Okanagan Highway beginning next week as FortisBC crews put in a major gas main upgrade.
Starting May 19, FortisBC crews will be working along Old Okanagan Highway between Reece Road and Gosset Road. Construction will take approximately five weeks to complete.
The gas main upgrade is required to keep up with the demands of the growing City.

Upper Smith Creek Road temporary closure extended, local residential access maintained

Upper Smith Creek Road, above Copper Ridge Drive, will be closed from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday to Friday until May 29 to allow for approved subdivision-related work.
The closure had to be extended as crews have encountered significant rock that will require additional drilling and blasting.
While this closure will take two more weeks, it will also allow crews to pour concrete curbs and pave the road during this time, which would remove the need for a future one-week...
