Boil Water Notice Issued for Lakeview/Rose Valley Water System

August 30, 2020
The City of West Kelowna, in consultation with Interior Health, is issuing a Boil Water Notice for the Lakeview/Rose Valley System effective immediately and until further notice, due to unforeseen mechanical complications at the Rose Valley Chlorination Facility.
The mechanical issues – related to a planned power outage in the area – are resulting in untreated water entering the system.

Water Quality Advisory Issued for Lakeview/Rose Valley Water System

The City of West Kelowna, in consultation with Interior Health, is issuing a Water Quality Advisory for the Lakeview/Rose Valley System effective immediately and until further notice, due to above normal turbidity registering at the reservoir and in the distribution network.
The seasonal breakdown of algae is causing the turbidity, which may affect the performance of the chlorine disinfection process. Increased turbidity can mean bacteria, viruses and microorganisms...

More than 8,200 future Rose Valley Water Treatment Plant (RVWTP) property owners will soon receive a mailed package about the recommended option to borrow long-term to design, build and finance the plant, and determine if there is sufficient petition against.
The Council Initiative – Subject to Petition Against is a legislative process that will occur through October 2, 2020. It applies to future RVWTP property owners in the Lakeview-Rose Valley, Pritchard, Sunnyside...

Council meeting conducted in new Chambers
Council held the August 25 Regular Meeting in new portables, installed across from former Council Chambers at 2760 Cameron Road. The former Chambers were too small to accommodate Council, staff and the public in keeping with provincial COVID-19 health guidelines for social distancing and gathering size limits. The City will provide information in the coming weeks on how the public will be able to attend future meetings in the new Council Chambers.
