Butt Road and Old Okanagan Highway intersection improvement project update

B.C. General crews continue to make strong progress on the Butt Road and Old Okanagan Highway intersection improvements.

The anticipated timeline for reopening the intersection remains fall 2025. As work progresses toward completion, we will share more details about the specific reopening date.

Westbank Centre Park remains open during temporary traffic pattern changes along May Street

The City of West Kelowna is advising visitors to Westbank Centre Park to be aware of ongoing construction within the park area.

To support the construction of the new George Pringle Secondary School, a single-lane alternating traffic pattern is currently in effect along May Street.

Access to the Kids Care Spray Park, Julia’s Junction, the dog park, and the community garden remains open.

Section of McDougall Road closed for repair work on July 16

Date of Issue: Tuesday, July 15, 2025 

On Wednesday, July 16, AEL will be completing road repairs on a section of McDougall Road.

As a result of the work, a section of McDougall Road from will be closed to motorists from 2170 McDougall Road to Stevens Road. A detour will be place along Rosewood Drive to Westlake Road.

Crews are scheduled to work from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

The construction schedule is subject to weather conditions, contractor schedule changes and other factors.

Section of Anders Road closed for final paving work

Date of Issue: Thursday, July 10, 2025

Starting Friday, July 11, 2025, Matcon Construction is scheduled to begin the final phase of work on Anders Road as part of the active transportation improvement project. This work will require additional adjusted traffic patterns.

To date, Matcon Construction has completed stormwater upgrades, installed a bike lane and sidewalk, and added street lighting along Anders Road from the Boucherie Road roundabout to just past Anders Park.

Butt Road and Old Okanagan Highway intersection closed starting June 18

Date of Issue: Wednesday, June 11, 2025

Beginning Wednesday, June 18, construction will begin at the Butt Road and Old Okanagan Highway intersection as part of a major active transportation and intersection improvement project.

To complete the work safely and efficiently, the intersection will be fully closed to all vehicle and public access at all times, including weekdays and weekends, until fall 2025.

All area businesses will remain open and accessible, via detours, during construction.
