Wildfire prevention work in Mt. Boucherie area

Crews are conducting forest fire mitigation work over the next two to three weeks mid-slope on the northeast side of Mt. Boucherie above Hudson Road Elementary. Smoke from the project may be visible during this time.
Recreation users should use caution while hiking, avoid staging areas and watch for crews and equipment.

Effective immediately, the ban on campfires has been lifted in most Central Okanagan areas. Campfires are not permitted at any time within the City of Kelowna.
The ban on campfires within local government fire jurisdictions in the Central Okanagan has been in place since July 28. Recent showers and cooler, seasonal temperatures have lowered the potential fire danger rating from low to moderate.

Effective immediately, all campfires are prohibited throughout all Central Okanagan municipalities and electoral area Fire Service Areas.
Due to extreme temperatures, dry conditions and the high-extreme fire danger rating, the campfire ban will remain in effect until further notice.

Keep our parks safe from fire this summer – do not barbecue, smoke or vape or use tools that cause sparks. Campfires, fuels and open flames, fireworks and motorized recreational vehicles are also prohibited in our parks. A campfire ban remains in effect and outdoor burning is prohibited.
