Crews put sports fields to bed and close public washrooms for winter

With shorter days and cooler temperatures, City crews are getting West Kelowna’s parks ready for winter starting with the higher elevation locations and working their way down towards the lake.
The City will close most fields and parks washrooms by Monday, Oct. 31 except for Rosewood Sports Field on McDougall Road, which will remain open through the third week of November to accommodate youth football season.

Starting today, Friday, May 29, beach volleyball courts and four new pickleball courts will be open in the City of West Kelowna.
Users must maintain safe social distancing of two metres and limit gathering sizes on the courts and sidelines to required players, officials and subs only.

As phased reopening plans continue to progress, the next phase will see playgrounds and outdoor fitness equipment opening on June 1 across the region. This includes outdoor playgrounds located in municipal and regional parks as well as playgrounds located at public schools in the Okanagan.

West Kelowna will re-open its skateboard park, pickleball and tennis courts on May 16 in response to the phased strategy unveiled in the Province’s Restart Plan as part of the COVID-19 recovery.
