A $5,000 donation from the West Kelowna Daybreak Rotary has arrived just in time for the West Kelowna KidSport Chapter.
Autumn is a busy season for applications to the non-profit organization that provides subsidies to families who need assistance enrolling their children in sports. Please manage wildlife attractants around your home and watch for bears in our parks.
As bears prepare for winter denning by increasing their food intake, the chances for human-bear conflicts can increase due to easily accessible unnatural food sources in orchards and neighbourhoods attracting bears into the community. The usual late summer maintenance shutdown at Johnson Bentley Aquatic Centre begins Saturday, August 31.
Crews must close the pool section of the facility for cleaning and minor repairs for two weeks through Sunday, September 15. Aquatic fitness classes, swim lessons and public swimming break Friday, August 30 and resume Monday, September 16.
