Traffic Calming

As West Kelowna grows the municipality must manage issues related to increased traffic volumes and pattern changes.

Over the past several years, the city has been constructing traffic calming measures in various neighbourhoods, based on public input and study and analyses:

The City of West Kelowna thanks ICBC for ongoing partnership funding provided through the Road Improvement Program to assist with the construction of traffic calming measures.

Addressing Traffic Issues

The City of West Kelowna endeavors to address traffic issues at the development application stage. However, over time, the creation of new developments in adjacent neighbourhoods or jurisdictions may cause unexpected shifts in traffic flows.

In an effort to address changes in transportation patterns, the municipality may consider traffic calming.

Council has adopted a Traffic Calming Policy (PDF), which identifies means and methods of determining traffic management options in the municipality.
